These patented Wire EDM precision tooling vises are designed to take full advantage of a Wire EDM's existing capabilities. In fact, until now there has never been anything like them on the market. When machining precision parts the need arises for maximum repeatability. Currently available Wire EDM tooling incorporates some form of 3 axis positioning. While this feature can be beneficial, it also creates a situation of dependence on the positioning screws to consistently maintain their location. This new vise design eliminates those variables due to its solid design. Simple, easy to use, attractively priced, and a great addition to your current tooling, your Wire EDM room simply should not be without them!
420 Stainless Steel / 52-54 Rockwell C / Cryogenically treated to -300° F
Flat, parallel, and square within .0002"
An example of a situation where the unique properties of this vise will become evident is when a part needs to have a form machined through. Due to the clearance pocket in the bottom this can be accomplished. This is possible due to the fact that the part is resting on a solid bottom surface making it is possible to machine the form using a larger offset, (thus making the form smaller) and removing it for dimensional inspection. It can then be returned to the vise maintaining its prior location, appropriate programming changes made to the machining location, then wire cut to finished size.

420 Stainless Steel / 52-54 Rockwell C / Cryogenically treated to -300° F
Flat, parallel, and square within .0002"
This variation of the vise can be used in a situation where a work piece needs to have a form machined lengthwise through the part. If the length is considerably larger than the thickness and width (which is the case with many parts) this can create a situation where it becomes a problem to reliably hold the part. With this vise the part can rest against the large back surface, while it is contained between the jaws. The part can be taken out of the vise, dimensionally inspected, the appropriate changes made to the machine location, and placed back in the vise for finish machining. A stop placed against the bottom surface of the movable and solid jaws will insure repeatability in the "Z" axis. This is necessary when machining tapers in order to maintain the program plane.
